Update on Hearing
6 July 2026
Today the matter was listed in court where Dr. AM Singhvi briefed by Naman Joshi appeared for members of the Delhi Gymkhana Club. Mr. Jayant Mehta briefed by Yash Johri appeared for the Workers of the Club.
The members had challenged the notice dated 29.6.2026 issued by the Estate Officer under the Public Premises Act.
Mr. Tushar Mehta, Ld. Solicitor General of India appeared for the Union of India and sought time to file a reply to the Application of the members. He also said that the hearing before the Estate Officer was scheduled for 7.7.2026, however, the Members may seek time before the Estate Officer and the Union of India will not oppose such adjournment before the Estate Officer.
Since the next date of hearing before the Hon'ble High Court is 28.7.2026, the parties will therefore request the Estate Officer to take up the matter after that date.
This is a de facto stay of proceedings under the Public Premises Act.
